TEXT OF SPEECH

Hi I’m Hope and I really don’t enjoy speeches. Especially if they are about me! So unfortunately this is both a speech and about me and my goals for my freshman year and beyond, so I might as well get it over with.

During these four years at Foothill Technology High School I want to get good grades. I am aiming for As, but one or two Bs is still pretty good. I admit that I’m not the best listener when it comes to school, but this year I will put effort into listening so that I can get better grades even if what’s being taught isn’t the most exciting thing in the world. I also look forward to learning new things in health, math, and english because those are my favorite classes.

As far as my family life goes, I want to spend more time with them. I have two little sisters that look up to me so I want to be a good leading example for them. Charlotte is four years old and she is so imaginative, energetic, and curious all the time. Even though I don’t want to play My Little Pony with her 24/7 I can spend ten minutes of my life to spend some time with my youngest sister. Summer is six and she has Cerebral Palsy. That basically means that the connection between her brain and her muscles is not the greatest, making walking, standing, picking up objects, and other activities very difficult and she needs a lot of assistance with those activities. Yet somehow she is always so happy and excited for everything from learning to hold her head up to take a few steps with assistance. In many ways she is an inspiration for me as well. I want to spend more time teaching her new things and making her smile.

Hope's Goals For Freshman Year

I am a very social person that loves to talk and be friends with everyone, ever. watch on TV or in person, and I love playing it even more. I look forward to learning more about the sport and pushing myself to always get better at it.

In conclusion, I want to meet all of my goals and also create new goals for myself as I face new challenges academically, personally, physically, and anything else that I strive to improve on. I am so excited to go throughout high school fulfilling my goals and go on with the rest of my life handling anything that life may throw at me.Almost as if it is my mission to memorize everyone’s names or make the shyest person have a conversation with me. This is why I have some of the best friends on earth. Some of them are really outgoing and some of them are a little bit shy. But beware, because even though they might seem shy, once you are close friends with them they become a completely different person. And I think that is the best part of having friends! Getting to know them better and letting them know you better too. Sometimes you may find out more about yourself in the process. So for that, I am so grateful to have such amazing, caring, crazy, trustworthy friends.

Ever since I was little I have always been into sports. My parents put me in so many different sports so I could see what I liked the best. I have tried gymnastics, soccer, softball, swim, track and field, flag football, boxing and basketball. And after all that I have stuck with basketball and I love it. I love how you have to be strong and aggressive, but you also have to have skill. You have to remember the plays and work on both offence and defense. You have to constantly work on dribbling and shooting, because you can always get better. You have to work as a team, not an individual, so as a result, you create strong relationships as well. Basketball has always been my favorite sport.
